Free Advice For Becoming Self Employed – Bossit
The first Bossit event has been held for Weston residents who dream of becoming their own boss.
Paul Lucock of Skills4work, SEO Lady and local businesswoman Nina Payne, Angela Hicks of North Somerset Enterprise Agency and Adrian Stone of Westonworks welcome guests to the first Bossit event.
Bossit is a new campaign to help people living in the Bournville, Coronation, Oldmixon, the Potteries and the town centre areas of Weston who wish to explore their skills and consider a future career in business.
It is spearheaded by three local organisations – North Somerset Enterprise Agency (NSEA), Skills4Work and Westonworks – and is being supported by a further 12 organisations.
Bossit provides the opportunity to explore how individual talents, skills and interests can be used to create a business and offers lots of support to help people who have, or wish to develop, a business idea.
Thirty people attended the first Bossit event, and a series of activities will be held in Weston over coming months to give others a chance to discuss their ideas with experts.
People can also find out about the free help and advice that exists to support them, gain the help they need to overcome any barriers they face and hear from inspirational local people who are successfully being their own boss.
Angela Hicks, chief executive of NSEA, said: “We were thrilled to experience so many people and so much interest at our first Bossit event.
“It was great to see people going away more confident in their abilities to take their business idea forward.”
Business advisor Liz Gjoni was on hand on behalf of NSEA to offer free information and tips on starting out in business and a host of local agencies including Weston College, North Somerset Community Learning and the National Careers Service were in attendance, providing helpful advice and resources.
SEO Lady – Nina Payne

Nina said: “It has been a pleasure for me to share my journey and help others to see what being your own boss looks like.
“There are many thriving and exciting small businesses like mine out there – and room for plenty more.”
